soft city, inscribed, is an exploration into our relations to the city. Set in the public space, it carefully unveils the exhaustion inherent in the everyday movements ocurring in our cities. Alienation, gentrification, constant surveillance, and a rigid set of rules are guiding principles for modern city architecture and planning. soft city, inscribed, contrasts these characteristics of modern city life, with a more utopian idea of the city as an ongoing process of negotation between all its residents. The city is imagined as a constant potential of change, connected to a positive idea of ruin and decay as the basis for never ending dialogue between all of us.
We developed this constellation for the Festival WiesbadenTanzt! In 2023, it was premiered as a public performance at Platz der Deutschen Einheit in Wiesbaden.
Within our collective process, Anno Bolender and Ira Wichert choreographed the performance and performed it to the live sounds of Cat Woywood. Nadine Wagner designed the costumes, stage and scenography. Lukas Picard supported the production artistically.
The performance was photographed beautifully by Geraldine F. Rodriguez Maldonado and John Hussain Flindt and Vlada Shchiolka.
